Welcome to the Cathedral Ridge Winery Grapes of the Gorge blog. Voted Oregon Winery of the Year, Cathedral Ridge is a premier winery and vineyard experience that features Columbia Gorge hospitality and world-class wines by fourth generation Sonoma Valley winemaker Michael Sebastiani. We’re located in Hood River, Oregon and we’d love for you to visit us during your next trip to Oregon. If you can’t visit, we invite you to try one of our wines. Here’s the part where I’m supposed to recommend a wine, a flag ship of our special little winery that speaks for the place, but alas, how do you pick a wine when so many of the wines (created from local grapes) are so wonderful. It’s like choosing a favorite dog! They are all so unique, so compelling and so beautifully crafted. For that reason we’ve created an Award Winning BBQ Sampler for the summer that includes 3 of our favorites (all spectacular, all Award Winners), wines that compliment summer grilling of beef, pork, fish and salads, wines that give you a glimpse into the depth of our wine making ability. Let me tell you just a little about the grapes. The soils and micro climates within a 40 mile radius of our winery are extremely diverse, that’s why we can create our luscious Zinfandel, our lovely bodied Pinot Noir and a very surprisingly (not too oaky) crisp Chardonnay.
