Silver Medal -  Northwest Wine Summit

This is hands down the best Chardonnay ever made at Cathedral Ridge Winery. It is a beautiful light gold with a warm nose and hints of vanilla. The mouth has a luscious feel with notes of nuttiness and butterscotch. It has a strong complexity with layers that keep appearing throughout the finish. Enjoy with scallops, brie, lobster, or French bread. Or enjoy it by itself!

We aged this Reserve Chardonnay for 24 months in two year old Belvedere Winery's American Oak barrels. The barrels were water bent, meaning that instead of heating the oak over a fire to bend them, they were submerged in water. They then received a medium toasting which has the effect of having a deeper toast, more concentrated in the wood. The wine takes on less of a woody, smoky taste and more notes of vanilla and butterscotch.
