Often dismissed as a Bordeaux blender, Cabernet Franc is a fabulous wine on its own. Beautifully balanced with a strong aromatic focus; it is a premier food wine. The notes that shine are extremely complex, ranging from tomato vine on the nose to gooseberry on the palate, hints of cocoa powder, sage and violet with touches of cherry fruit leather on the finish. The longer it is open, the more the wine changes! Cabernet Franc is a wonderfully versatile pairing wine that holds up nicely to tomato based dishes like pasta and pizza while easily balancing difficult herbal flavors like oregano, sage and rosemary. One of our favorite and simple pairing recipes is Jocelyn’s Sundried Tomato and Goat Cheese Frittata – recipe card is included with the purchase of the wine. Limited production of 200 cases. pH 3.74 and TA 5.9, our Cabernet Franc cellars beautifully for up to 15 years.

[show_more more=”Read More” less=”Show Less”]It is sourced from the Moody Vineyard sits at the magic 1,000 foot level atop 900 feet of sand and gravel at the mouth of the Deschutes River and Columbia River, about 30 miles east of Hood River owned and operated by Lonnie and John Williams. A breezy south-facing vineyard that tilts north to moderate the midday sun borders the Eastern Oregon desert and has an annual rainfall of less than 20 inches per year. This is in stark comparison to the Dampier Vineyard, which has almost triple the rainfall at about 58 inches per year only 35 miles away! The enchanting Moody Vineyard produces top quality varietals such as Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Viognier. Because of the dry climate with higher temperatures during the day, and cooling river and Mt. Hood downslope breezes at night, grapes from Moody Vineyard thrive as they do in the Bordeaux and Rhone regions of France.[/show_more]
