Another old family favorite and easy to boot, the molasses marinated flank steak takes only a few minutes on each side for a succulent steak that Rusty the winery dog would approve of! With the sweetness of the molasses and the juiciness of the steak, an off-dry Syrah based wine like Rusty Red is just right to marry the flavors and create an experience beyond just the wine and food. Try the steak with roasted brussel sprouts and potatoes and you’ve got yourself the perfect dinner party meal.
Tenderize meat and score diagonally.
Mix all ingredients but steak in a bowl.
Place steak in a baking pan and pour mixture over, saving a bit for basting and for sauce.
Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
Heat under broiler about 2 inches from heat, 5-7 minutes on each side depending on thickness and preference of doneness.
Serve on a chilly fall night with a glass of Rusty Red and a side of mashed potatoes (the sauce goes incredibly well with the potatoes)!
