Are you mad for Merlot?

You would have to be crazy not to be mad for this collection! Containing 4 of our Columbia Valley Merlot-based red wines, this limited-offer collection highlights the varietal in several stunning ways.  All 4 of these wines were aged in oak for nearly 2 years before bottling.

The 2018 Merlot, is sourced from Elephant Mountain and Reid Vineyards.  All grapes were picked and taken in at optimum ripeness with a two week fermentation for full color extraction and fermented to full dryness. The wine was then barrel aged for 18 months in neutral oak providing a sensuous texture with balanced acidity and easy tannins. This merlot opens with fruit forward aromas with ripe boysenberry and spice on the nose.  A robust savory palate with supple tannins leading to a peppery, dry finish.

The 2016 Winemaker’s Reserve is one of our showcase wines; a true Bordeaux style blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and of course, Merlot.  Aromas of red peppercorn, oak roasted coffee beans, citrus zest and pomegranates meld to tantalize, followed by a full palate of sturdy tannins, balanced acidity and deep black fruit. This delicious offering was 15 years in the making.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot is a 50/50 blend of these 2 delicious red wine varietals, showcasing just why these two are meant to be together. Big, bold and full of fruit, this red blend is a Cathedral Ridge Winery best seller!

The 2017 Bordheauxd Red is a three way blend of some of our favorite varietals- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.  We call this local favorite Bordheauxd, pronounced board-head and playing on the word Bordeaux, to pay homage to the wind surfing and kite boarding community.  This wine features rich and elegant notes of toasted vanilla and brown sugar, shredded tobacco, smoke, cherries, leather and white pepper, with a beautiful palate of lush cherries and spices with a full-body dry finish. Beautifully balanced with a deep hue this signature blend stands on firm tannins and lingers on the finish.
